I picked up two items of skin care from Clean and Clear, that’s when the idea for this blog post came to mind. I have been struggling with my skin for a while now. I do hold my hands up to say that I do not have the best diet ever. Chocolate is my companion, and I’ve always had a very bad sweet tooth. This has not rewarded me well obviously. I started incorporating a proper skin care routine in my life when I got sick of having to deal with break outs.
After a while of using my skin care and changing up my diet, I was seeing no change. Then I realised I was using so much skin care. I narrowed it down to only three products for the month. First, the Clean & Clear exfoliating daily wash and the Clean & Clear deep cleansing lotion (and the micellar cleansing water).
Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Facial Wash – link here
Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash contains gentle micro-beads for effective cleansing.
Formulated to effectively remove dirt, oil and dead skin cells that can block pores leading to spots and blackheads. Its exfoliating action will leave your skin beautifully smooth and clear.
Clean & Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion – link here
Clean & Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion for sensitive skin cleanses your skin gently but effectively to remove everyday build-up of oil, dirt and grease.
It is totally effective as a single-step cleanser to clean thoroughly and help prevent spots, but it can also be used to refresh, tone and tighten pores after washing.
FYI, I have really dry skin, and it’s rare my skin ever gets oily. Moisturizer is huge for me, because my skin can get very ashy.
To cut this short, I used only Clean & Clear skin care for two months, and I ‘documented’ my results. I thought it would be interesting to see if it really matters whether or not to stay using the same brand’s products. I assume every product is made to compliment the others. So, here is my honest opinion after using the same brand’s skin care for a month, and is it really worth it? Read on to find out x

1 MONTH LATER
30/08/2018 – 30/09/2018
I have not seen much change yet. What I can say positively about using the daily wash, is that my skin feels smooth after using it. It feels quite refreshing after applying it, and my skin feels squeaky clean!
As for the ‘lotion’, and I put lotion in quotations because it does not feel one bit like a lotion. I applied this to a cotton pad and swiped all over my face. This makes my skin 10X more drier than it was to begin with. And something strange happens with this, my skin starts to sting?? I’m assuming this is because it is an oil-fighting formula so wherever it stings, it is killing the oil. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see, but so far, this doesn’t perform as any lotion to me.
2 MONTHS LATER..
30/09/2018 – 30/10/2018
My face has only slightly improved. The fact that this skincare has managed to last me two months I think is brilliant. It’s quite affordable and cheap (around €2.50 each) really for how long it can last you for. I’ve used it religiously now every night with no skips, only the odd one when I went out or something.
Okay, yeah sure it’s cheap and it lasts long. But I didn’t see any results. I was quite disappointed with that because I thought using only one brand of skincare through out the past two months, that maybe something would change. There are positive effects it has on my skin, like after using it immediately my skin feels soft and smooth. Does it reduce pimples though? No, not really. To be honest, the only changes I saw in my skin were after I directly used it. The difference in my skin would not last throughout the day. So that was pretty disappointing, how the effects only last about an hour or so.
As for the ‘lotion’, that didn’t do much either except sting my skin every time I used it. I endured the stinging because I assumed because it was fighting the oil in my skin or something.
I suppose this review is a bit hard going, but due to the fact that I actually changed around my diet to see results (reduced how much chocolate I eat, eat healthier etc.), I do feel like there’s no excuse for these products not to deliver what they promise. But I’m also keeping in mind of how cheap the skin care is. I guess you get what you pay for, and in this case I really did.
I’d love to know everyone else’s thoughts. Have you tried these products and how did it work for you? Do you think using only one brand’s skin care makes a difference? Because my skin isn’t the same as everyone else’s, I’m thinking maybe it’s my skin type it doesn’t perform well for? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
