How I Improved My Makeup Skills

The truth is, we are all still learning how to master the art of makeup. Because that’s just what it is – an art. Unless your a professional makeup artist, you are still learning  , aswell as myself, everyday tips and tricks on how to improve your makeup skills. Here are some tips you can do to really finesse the art of makeup.Primark haul - just under €15 ! Caroo makeup blog

1. Youtube tutorials

Believe it or not, many of your favourite youtubers or instagram makeup artists are self made. Tutorials have been a guide for aspiring makeup lovers or mua’s (makeup artist) to learn how to cut crease or blend well. To be honest, before I started watching youtube tutorials, I didn’t even have a clue about what baking was or contouring etc.

Here are some of my favourite youtube videos to help you understand the basics of makeup:

2. Practice, practice, practice!

How else do you get better at something? You practice it of course! I remember sitting down on my bed aged 13, practicing my blending and foundation application. It was almost therapeutic. In order to improve your makeup skills, you need to practice everyday. Whether it’s winged eyeliner or contouring! A tip is to record yourself to see where your making your mistakes so you can learn from them!

3. Get better makeup

How else do you expect to have a flawless face if the products you are using are terrible? Like all makeup artists and lovers, they have all had to sacrifice a few bucks to get good quality makeup. If you want a compliment worthy looking face, then you need the products to match! Working with cheap makeup for the dollar/euro store won’t improve your makeup skills at all, only hinder them. Here are the Best Drugstore Makeup Items for all you fellow cheapskates out there! Good brushes are important too.

And that’s it! I hope you found this useful!

  2. I have seen people do winged eyeliner and always wanted to do it, but never took the plunge because I know I have no clue where to begin. I have watched YouTubers in the past, but doing that always seemed something I can never do and even if I do it, then it wouldn’t be good enough. I do enjoy lipstick a lot though! Making my lips as big as it can possibly be as you can see in my profile picture here 😛 Lol.

  3. Lol, I completely understand. It’s so puzzling and just thinking ‘do I really need to buy winged eyeliner if i have no idea how to do it?’ You just need to, as you said, take the plunge! It could really suit you! Xo
